Welcome, New Ancestor!
Personal coaching and organizational transformation that makes justice work sustainable, skillful, and effective. From the board room, to the staff meeting, to the kitchen table we face so many situations that ask us to be leaders for racial justice. As white people, we may be unsure of ourselves, feel it's too risky, feel stuck or worry that we don’t have credibility and will be seen as overstepping. Unfortunately, when we hesitate or pull back from the conversation, we can send a message that we don’t understand structural racism, or that racial justice is not a high priority for us.
Since the summer of 2020, we’ve been gathering small groups of white people to practice racial justice leadership in our work and personal lives.
This program is for you if you are looking for community, skills, and strategies to center racial justice more clearly and consistently in your life. Because liberation work should feel like the future we're building.
Over 6 sessions, we will work together to:

This group is about the practice of racial equity leadership. Whether it’s at work, in your homeowners association, or with your extended family, we dig into topics that are both personal and professional. For so many of us, what we need now (after years of reading books!) is to gather our courage and make bolder choices.

White people need space to reflect on our feelings and experiences without worrying about the presence of people of color. For 60 years, people of color have been asking white folks to step up and do this work together. New Ancestors is a space to be supported and challenged, as well as to offer compassion. Learn more about white affinity spaces here.

The groups have been a mix of non-profit directors, people in corporate roles, philanthropy, as well as volunteer leaders. Many different kinds of white leaders are looking for this kind of supportive and challenging space. See the testimonials below for more information about past participants.

This coaching group is mainly about reflection and dialogue. We focus on our everyday experiences as white people confronting racism - in order to build greater confidence for taking action. We do share resources and occasionally discuss readings or videos.
This is not a passive learning experience. We honor each other’s presence by committing to the meeting schedule and being responsive during and in between the sessions.
